The Bible describes a “salvation” which goes beyond just accepting Jesus Christ as one’s Savior. According to the author’s study, God's Word presents salvation as having two aspects: rescue from sin, and restoration to all the privileges mankind initially enjoyed. The doctrine of salvation the Bible presents includes justification by faith, redemption, election, justification by works, and obtaining God's promises of rest, rewards, and inheritance. Besides promising real, everlasting benefits to those who please God by doing His will, God’s Word warns of the real consequences which come to believers who fail to do His will. Furthermore, it points to the New Earth, not Heaven, as the righteous man’s final everlasting destination, and it warns that only obedient children of God will live with Him in His house (the New Jerusalem). The author explains principles found in God's Word, working through the Old Testament and then into the New. Old Testament Scriptures reveal what God expected of believers under the Old Covenant; their examples help us to understand God’s expectations today for believers under the New Covenant. Christ’s commands are not suggestions to improve one’s family life or to enhance one’s financial portfolio. Quite the opposite, Christ commands His disciples to give up this life and to store treasure in Heaven so that they can live an abundant life on the New Earth. Christ demands that His disciples be totally committed, so that their daily lives will be genuine sacrifices, if they want to inherit the Kingdom of God.
